| A Full Year of School for $55 |
| Frances Landers, the
founder of the Haiti Education Foundation, and Father Jean-Wilfrid Albert,
the Haitian priest in St. Matthias Parish, have designed a budget in
which $55 provides a full year of school for one child, including a hot,
nutritious lunch each day. |
 |
 |
How can such a small amount of money do so
much?
- Father Albert lives in the community and administers the funds
carefully, finding teachers and supplies locally.
- The average yearly income in Haiti is less than $300, so
supplies are cheap and salaries are low.
- 100% of each scholarship is used for the child; there are
no administrative expenses.
|
| You Can Make a Difference |
| You can help by sponsoring a child for $55 (less
than 16¢ a day). Renew your sponsorship each year before the
October school term opens. You will receive a photograph and you will
know that all your money is helping the child who needs it. |
 |
 |
| Writing to the child you sponsor is not practical,
since there is no mail delivery in rural Haiti and the people speak only
Creole. But Christmas and special occasions can be remembered with an
extra gift of $3. Father Albert will see that each child receives an
appropriate small gift. |
