God is still writing these stories.
These are real people in real communities, and they are still climbing. This is Hope taking root.
Written testimonies. Photos from the field. Families who send a third generation through the same school gates.
This is what it looks like when a school keeps its promise to a community, year after year.
Featured Story
A written testimony
She was selling gasoline from a barrel on the side of a road.
It is common work in these mountains, and dangerous: it means breathing fumes, living with the risk of fire, and having no safety net when something goes wrong. Père Albert knew exactly where that road led for a girl with nowhere else to go.
He got her into school. She became a nurse.
Today she is a nurse in a clinic, serving a mountain community that could have lost her to the side of a road.

More From the Mountains
Education impacts the community. Parents want their children to be educated so they can reach their greatest potential.

Some will continue to work the farm
Education provides more tools for living
Success has many different meanings. Families in the mountains rely on farming their land. This is the family business. The ability to read, compute math, write legibly, and work with others opens many doors even if the decision is made to continue working in the field. Knowledge is a gift we give that can never be taken away.

Others have loftier goals
Dreams do come true
He was among the first students in his community to earn a university degree. He poured himself into his studies and continued to earn more and more certifications in computer technology. The first Haitian male to earn a Salesforce certification was educated in our remote mountain schools. What if no one ever gave him an opportunity to dream? He has worked for Habitat for Humanity in Haiti and Food for the Poor. Today, he also owns his own business and is married to the first Haitian female to earn a Salesforce certification.
Three Generations
A family, three generations deep
Three generations. One Hope.
More than three decades ago, the first Haiti Education Foundation (HEF) students walked into classrooms in the remote mountains of southern Haiti. As parents, this group desired for their children to also attend school.
Today, HEF is educating the grandchildren of those first students. The impact is real. The people of Haiti truly value the power of education.
